Gyros
1 lb ground lamb
1 large garlic clove minced
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. basil (dried)
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/2 tsp. Thyme
1/2 tsp. rosemary
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 Tbls fresh parsley - snipped
6 whole Pitas
2 tomatoes chopped
1 red onion sliced thin
Sauce:
2 cups sour cream
1 med. cucumber sliced in half, seeded, chopped and strained
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbls. Sugar
Combine first 9 ingredients and shape into thin "hotdog" like burgers.
Make sauce.
Warm pitas. (Wrap in foil, in a warm oven)
Place cooked meat in pitas, top with tomatoes, onions and sauce. |
