Salisbury Steak

1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted and divided
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/3 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 large egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms

Combine 1/4 cup of the soup and the next 4 ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Shape into patties (5-6 patties).

Brown the meat patties in a skillet. Remove and discard the drippings.

Combine the rest of the soup and the mushrooms in the skillet and add the patties.

Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer about 15-20 minutes until the beef is done and the gravy is thickened slightly.
