Chocolate Chip Peanut Squares

1 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 C. margarine or butter
1/2 C. packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 C. semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 C. peanuts, chopped

Combine flour and baking soda; set aside.

Blend margarine or butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, until creamy. Add egg and vanilla, blending until smooth.

Gradually blend in flour mixture; stir in chocolate chips and peanuts. Spread mixture into lightly greased 8-by-8-by-2-inch baking pan.

Bake at 350�F. for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares to serve. Store in airtight container.

Makes 16 squares.
