Strawberry Pecan Torte
1 box yellow cake mix
6 eggs, separated
1 cup sugar
2 large cartons Cool Whip
2 pkgs. frozen strawberries
1 cup chopped nuts
Mix cake as directed on box except use egg yolks instead of the whole egg. Spoon
batter into three 9-in. cake pans. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add sugar and
beat until stiff. Spoon egg whites on top of batter in pans. Sprinkle each layer
with 1/4 cup of chopped nuts.
Bake at 350ºF. for 25 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and turn out,
top side up. When stacking cake, top each layer with Cool Whip and strawberries.
On top layer, sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup chopped nuts. Keep refrigerated.
