Chocolate Chip Cake
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup boiling water
6 ounces chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla. Beat thoroughly.
Add water and flour mixture alternately, mixing batter until smooth after each
addition.
Spoon and spread into a greased 13- by 9-inch pan. Sprinkle top with chips and
nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. |
