Malted Chocolate Drops Recipe

Malted Chocolate Drops

2/3 cup butter or regular margarine
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup chocolate-flavored instant malted milk
1/4 cup water
1 cup chopped walnuts

Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla to mix well. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa and malted milk powder. Add alternately with water to creamed mixture. Fold in nuts. Chill several hours. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough 2-in. apart onto greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (350') about 12 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on racks.

Yield: 4 dozen

Chocolate Malt Frosting: Melt 1 square unsweetened chocolate and 1 tablespoon butter over very low heat (or over hot water), stirring constantly. Mix in 1 tablespoon warm water, 2 tablespoons chocolate-flavored instant malted milk powder, 2 tablespoons light cream or dairy half-and-half and 1 cup sifted confectioners sugar, or enough to make a frosting of spreading consistency.
