3 1/2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 pinches salt
4 teaspoons whole anise seed
1 cup margarine, melted and cooled
1 1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons anise extract
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and whole anise seed and set aside. Mix margarine and sugar. Add eggs and anise extract; mix well. Combine with flour mixture and mix well.
Put rounded teaspoonful on center of each place on a hot pizzelle iron (typically, two are made at a time). Close the iron and bake 30 to 40 seconds. Remove with a fork and cool on counter.
Repeat with rest of cookie dough.
Yield: Approximately 3 dozen cookies
