Ambrosia Drops Mix in a Jar
Layer the following in a quart-size jar:
1 1/4 cups unbleached flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup mixed candied fruits
1/2 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Attach the following recipe to a gift tag on the jar:
Ambrosia Drops
Cream 1/2 cup butter in a medium mixing bowl. Add 2 eggs, one at a
time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add the contents
of the jar, mixing well after each addition. Drop the mixture by
teaspoonsful, about 2-inches apart, on greased baking sheets. Bake
in a preheated 375 degree F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden
brown. Remove from the baking sheets and cool on wire racks.
Frost with Vanilla Icing when completely cool, if desired.
Makes 3 dozen.
To make Vanilla Icing: Combine 1 cup confectioners sugar, 1
tablespoon milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a small mixing bowl and
beat until smooth. |
