Molasses Bars
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp cloves
1 egg
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 cup light molasses
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 cup raisins
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg then molasses: mix
to blend well. Sift together flour, spices, soda and salt. Stir into
creamed mixture. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Spread in a greased
13"x9"x3" inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees 20 to 25 minutes
until center is still soft but springs back to the touch. Cut into
24 bars. |
