Raspberry and Chocolate Bars Cookie Recipe

Cookie dough:
2 C. flour, sifted
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/2 C. butter
1/4 C. sugar
2 egg yokes
1/4 C. water
1 t. vanilla
1 C. raspberry jam
1 C. fresh raspberries

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, Cream butter and add sugar gradually, beat in egg yolks one at a time; add flour alternating with water and vanilla. Press dough in 12 x 12 inch pan. Bring jam to a boil and fresh berries. Cook one minute and spread over dough.

Meringue:
3 egg whites
1/2 C. sugar
1 C. nuts, finely chopped in processor
1/4 t. salt

Beat egg whites and salt until stiff, add sugar gradually, and beat until soft peaks form, fold in nuts. Spread over jam and bake at 350 F. for 25 minutes.

Topping:
1 C. chocolate morsels melted

Drizzle melted chocolate over all. Allow to cool and cut into bars.

Makes about 24 bars.
