Chocolate-cherry Drop Cookies
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Margarine or butter -softened
2 oz Unsweetened chocolate Melted and cooled
1/3 cup Buttermilk, milk or water
1 tsp Vanilla
1 3/4 cup All-purpose flour *
Or whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
2 cup Cut-up candied or maraschino cherries
2 oz Unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp Margarine or butter
3 tbsp Water
2 cup Powdered sugar, about
* if using self-rising flour --- omit Baking soda and salt.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart into ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched; cool.
Frost with chocolate frosting.
About 4-½ dozen cookies;
Chocolate frosting heat chocolate and margarine over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Stir in water and powdered sugar until smooth.
