Because Passover is a family-centered observance, this is something
parents and children can make together. Adapted from "The Children's
Jewish Holiday Kitchen," by Joan Nathan. Makes about 3 cups.
2/3 cup almonds
3 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Grated rind of one lemon
4 tablespoons sweet red wine
Peel and core apples. Cut into quarters. Coarsely chop apples,
almonds, sugar, cinnamon and lemon rind in a chopping bowl, adding
the wine to create a coarse, chutney-like consistency or pulse all
ingredients in a food processor until ingredients are coarsely
chopped, not paste-like.
