Pizzelle Cones Recipe

3 1/2 C. flour, add more as necessary
2 t. baking powder
Scant 1/2 t. salt
1 C. butter, softened
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 t. vanilla
To make pizzelle cookies, alter the above recipe by using 4-1/2 cups
flour instead of 3-1/2 cups and use 2 teaspoons anise oil or 2
tablespoons anise seed in place of vanilla.
Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Beat butter
and gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs
one at a time, beating thoroughly. Add vanilla. Stir in flour
Preheat pizzelle baker that has been seasoned according to pizzelle
baker directions. Fill each pizzelle grid with 2 tablespoons of
pizzelle batter. Close top. Bake 30 to 45 seconds. Gently lift top
and lift out hot pizzelle.
Quickly roll pizzelle to form cone. Firmly press on seam to seal.
Fill inside with crumpled foil cone and let cool. When cool and
crisp, fill with ice cream.
Yield: 36 cones or pizzelles
