Layered Snacking Cake in a Quart Jar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup coconut, loosely measured
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 3/4 cup flour mixed with 1 teaspoon baking soda
Layer ingredients in a wide mouth quart canning jar in the order
they are given. Starting with sugar. Press each layer firmly in jar.
Add flour to top of jar a little at a time, pressing after each
portion. Decorate jar lid.
Empty contents of jar into a large bowl. Blend dry ingredients
together with your hands.
Add 1 stick of room
temperature margarine and 2 eggs and 1/2 cup milk.
Mix until well blended. This is a stiff batter.
Spread batter in well sprayed 8 or 9 inch square pan.
Bake 55 minutes at 325 degrees.
