Breaded Mozzarella Sticks
1 pound mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup flour
3 eggs beaten w/ 1/2 tbl. milk
1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (seasoned)
oil for frying
1/2 cup pizza or marinara sauce, for dipping
Cut cheese into sticks approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and 2
inches long. Coat cheese with flour, shaking off excess. Dip in egg
mixture and roll in breadcrumbs, coating thoroughly. Place on tray
in a single layer and place in freezer for 30 minutes. (This helps
to set the coating.)
Make Ahead Tip: At this point, place sticks in a
bag or container and keep in freezer until ready to cook and serve.
Deep fry in batches about 3 to 4 minutes or until
golden brown. Serve immediately alongside sauce.
Makes about 16 pieces.
