Baked Custard Cups
¾ cup sugar
½ tsp. salt
4 cups milk, scalded
½ tsp. vanilla
½ cup shredded coconut
2 tbsps. maple syrup
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
Beat egg slightly. Add sugar, vanilla and milk. Beat thoroughly. Put mixture in
a 3 qt. casserole, or in custard cups Place cups in a pan, half filled with
Bake at 325° for 50-60 minutes. Test for doneness by
inserting a knife in center, if it comes out slightly coated , it is ready.
Sprinkle on nutmeg. Melt chocolate and combine with coconut
and syrup. Drizzle over the hot custard.
