Quick, Easy -N- Fast Dreamsicle Cake Recipe

1 box orange cake mix
1 box French vanilla instant pudding mix

1 stick margarine
1/2 C. Crisco
1 C. sugar
5 T. all-purpose flour
1 C. milk
1 1/2 t. vanilla

3 C. powdered sugar
1 stick margarine
2 to 3 T. milk (more or less as needed)
2 t. orange flavoring

Blend dry pudding mix into dry cake mix. Prepare and bake cake according to directions on box. Bake batter in two 8- or 9-inch round pans. When cake is completely cooled, split layers in half to make 4 layers.

To make filling, stir milk into flour and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wire whisk until mixture forms a thick paste. Remove from heat and cover entire surface of paste with plastic wrap to prevent lumping. Cool completely.

Blend margarine, Crisco and sugar; beat 3 to 4 minutes with mixer. Add cooled paste mixture and beat at high speed until fluffy. Add vanilla and blend well. Spread filling between cake layers, but not on top of cake.

To make frosting, blend margarine and powdered sugar. Add 2 teaspoons orange flavoring (or to taste), then add milk a little at a time until frosting is good spreading consistency. Frost top and sides of cake.
