Introductions

In each bridal shower invitation, ask each guest to bring a non perishable grocery item of which its first letter begins with the initial of their first name. Inform each guest not to wrap the item.

Some examples: Teresa - tomato soup, Susan - sugar, Mary - Macaroni, etc. At the beginning of the shower, have each guest introduce herself as she presents her grocery item to the bride. This not only is a great way to introduce the guests to one another, it helps the bride and groom stock their pantry.

Another version is to have each person bring their favorite recipe for the bride and bring one item listed in the recipe.
