Old Fashioned Banana Cake
"This is a wonderful cake that could be served with whip cream on top. (Also, if you want to, you could add 1/2 cup nuts or pecans and a little more milk)."

2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 2/3 cups sugar
1 1/4 teasp. baking powder
1 1/4 teasp. baking soda
1 teasp. salt
2/3 cup milk (tastes better if canned milk is used)
4 teasp. lemon juice
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups mashed, ripe bananas (approx. 4 large)
3 eggs
1 teasp. vanilla

Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans. Sift first 5 ingredients in large bowl. Mix the milk, lemon juice, butter and bananas. Add alternately to dry ingredients. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat two minutes. Pour into pans. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until done. Frost.
