Cherry Malted Cookies
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 chocolate malted milk powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice (from the jar)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
Preheat oven to 375.
Sift together dry ingredients. In another bowl, cream the shortening and brown
sugar. Add the egg, cherry juice and vanilla and mix well. Blend in the dry
ingredients, mixing well. Gently add in the chopped maraschino cherries. Drop by
rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets and bake at 375 for 12 to 15
minutes.
Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
