Bicentennial Dessert

1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 stick butter
1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
2 large containers cool whip
2 small boxes chocolate instant pudding mix
2 1/2 cups milk
1 small pkg. slivered almonds

Mix flour, butter and walnuts together like pie dough. Press into a 9x13-in. glass pan and bake at 375�F. for 15 minutes. Let cool.

Cream together the cream cheese and sugar, then add a large container of cool whip and mix. Put this over the crust. Mix the pudding and milk and pour over the cheese layer. Cover the top with the other container of cool whip and sprinkle with slivered almonds and refrigerate.

This dessert also freezes very well.

Makes 10 to 12 servings.
