BBQ Pork Burgers
Sauce:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup Heinz Ketchup
3 tablespoons Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/4 cup Heinz Cider Vinegar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
Red Hot Sauce, to taste
Pork burgers:
2 pounds ground pork
1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
3 cups coleslaw
6 sesame hamburger buns
Potato chips, optional
To make the sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan and saute the onions and
the garlic until softened. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and
simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer the sauce
to a bowl and cool.
To make the burgers: Combine the ground pork with the bread crumbs and
1/2 cup of the sauce and form into 6 patties. Season the burgers with
salt and pepper.
Heat the grill to a medium-high heat. Grill the burgers on an oiled
rack, basting often with remaining sauce and turning several times,
until just cooked through. They should cook for about 5 minutes per
side.
Transfer the burgers to the buns. Top with coleslaw and serve with the
potato chips on the side, if desired.
