Honey Whole Wheat Bread Mix
4 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 packages dry active yeast
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients; store in airtight
container. Place bread mixture in airtight cellophane bag. Tie it to
long breadboard, with serrated bread knife and a jar of honey.
Honey Whole Wheat Bread (makes 2 loaves): 1 package honey whole
wheat bread mix, 2 c. warm milk, 1/4 c. butter melted, 1/2 c. honey,
1 c. flour as needed, 2 tbl. butter melted. Preheat oven to 375�F
and grease 2 loaf pans. Place bread mix into large bowl and make a
well in the center. Add the milk, butter and honey, stirring with a
wooden spoon until all ingredients are combined and smooth.
Turn out onto a floured board and knead the dough, adding up to 1
cup of flour. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let rise
for 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk. Punch down the dough and let
rise another 45 minutes. Cut the dough in half and shape into 2
loaves. Place in greased loaf pans, cover and let rise 45 minutes.
Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes. At end of baking time, brush the
loaves with melted butter. |
