Bavarian Red Cabbage

1 small head red cabbage
1 medium onion
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup hot water
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cups white vinegar
3 tablespoons bacon grease or oleo

Mix all together. Cook in crockpot on high for 3 hours.
