Russian Tea
About 8 cups
1-1/2 cups water
3 medium oranges, sliced
1 large lemon, sliced
2 cinnamon sticks, about 3 inches long
1 teaspoon whole cloves, optional
2 cups pineapple juice
1/2 cup sugar or equivalent alternative sweetener
4 cups steeped black tea
Combine water, fruit, and spices in a heavy, non-aluminum saucepan.
Bring to a boil, and allow to boil for five minutes. Remove from
heat. Pour the mixture through a large mesh strainer into a bowl or
container; press the fruit with a heavy spoon (or your hand) to
expel all juice. Discard the fruit and spice pulp. Add the pineapple
juice and sugar, and stir well. Pour into a large teapot or
heat-proof pitcher or bottle. Pour in the steeped tea and stir well.
Serve hot. |
