Mondel Bread

12 Tbsp Crisco or Spry
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 level tsp baking powder
1 heaping tsp vanilla
1 heaping tsp almond extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 cup (1lb) chopped walnuts
Pre-heat oven to 325�

Blend Crisco with sugar then add eggs and blend again. Add baking powder, vanilla, almond extract, and blend. Add flour and nuts. Mix on medium speed until the dough is heavy. Take 1/3 of the dough and make 3 logs on a cookie pan, packing them lengthwise and thick. Make about 20 slices on each log, cutting at an angle halfway down the dough. Before placing in oven, sprinkle with combined sugar and cinnamon.

Bake at 325� for 40 minutes. Take it out, finish slicing each piece. Turn each slice on it's side and place back in oven for 12 minutes until toasty.
