Invitations can be by mail or phone. It depends on how large the party is, your budget, and how close the friends are. A written invitation is definitely necessary if you do not know all the guests well. With written invitations also provide a map and a wish list or gift theme.

Before you shop for invitations, you will have to decide on what type of shower you will be hosting.

When making out the invitations to the shower, be sure to include the bride's name, when the shower will be held - time and place, your name and phone number, the theme of the shower, and whether you want Regrets Only or RSVP's. If you have invited people from out of town, you may want to include a small map of directions.

Try to send out your invitations at least two weeks prior to the shower.
