Crunchy Chocolate Toffee Recipe
1 C. butter
1 1/3 C. sugar
1 T. corn syrup
2 T. water
1 1/2 t. vanilla
2 C. chocolate chips or butterscotch chips
1/2 C. walnuts or pecans, chopped
Line a 13- by 9- by 2-inch baking dish with foil and lightly grease it with a
little butter.
In a 2-quart microwave-safe glass bowl combine the butter, sugar, corn syrup and
water. Microwave on high 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown, stirring twice
during microwaving. Stir in the vanilla. Pour the mixture into the prepared
baking dish. Sprinkle with the chocolate or butterscotch chips and let rest for
2 minutes.
Spread the chocolate evenly and sprinkle it with the chopped nuts, pressing them
into the chocolate. Chill the mixture until it is cool. Break it into uneven
pieces and place them in a decorative tin or serve on a platter.
Makes about 1 pound, about 16 pieces.
