Gasthaus Red Cabbage Salad

1 small head red cabbage, grated as for coleslaw
3/4 C. chopped, peeled apple
2 T. salad oil
1/4 C. white vinegar or red wine vinegar
1/3 C. sugar
1/4 t. salt

Mix all ingredients in bowl. Marinate salad at least 2 hours before serving, preferably overnight.
