Filled Almond Squares
Dough
1 cup butter or margarine, at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling
12 ounces almond paste
3 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Coat a 9-inch by 13-inch baking pan with
non-stick spray.
For dough: Combine all dough ingredients, using an electric mixer.
Spread half the mixture on the bottom of prepared pan. Set aside.
For filling: Combine all filling ingredients and spread over dough
in pan. Dot filling with remaining dough.
Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and cool
slightly, then cut while still warm.
Makes 32 squares. |
