Candied Yams and Apples
6 fresh yams, sliced
2 cans apple pie filling
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Vanilla
Brown sugar
2 sticks butter
Miniature marshmallows
Clean yams, then pierce with a fork, rub with
butter and wrap in aluminum foil.
Bake for 35-40 minutes. Refrigerate overnight.
The next day, peel and slice the yams.
In a 9-inch-by-13-inch pan, layer half of the yams, then one can of
apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon, then nutmeg. Pour a capful of
vanilla over top. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Slice 1 stick of butter
over layer. Repeat with second half of ingredients. Bake in
350-degree oven for 30 minutes, periodically basting with juices.
During the last 5 to 10 minutes, top with miniature marshmallows. |
